A commentary by Alvaro Gomez on the work of Ileana Moya, from the catalog of the exhibition "Reminiscencias." Ileana, attentive person to the human pain, her empathy leads her to look for ways to help and to cure something or somebody. A lover of life, investigator and naturalist; she is impelled like Da Vinci to relate art and science, but breaks so like Joseph Beuys with that submission of the positivist rationalization. She is a homeopath of the spirit, her work heals healing itself, her art is cure, because she keeps alerting our sensation, enlivens the imagination, attends to the penetrating heart and the reasoning faculty. Ileana is not victim, the art does not allow her to be, it invites us to have control over ourselves; and especially, to see ourselves as men and women with our own faculties to create the masculine and the feminine without reduction or censure. In her tracing, which I call “grafía”, we find gentleness, pulsing and exigency in the same body, perhaps a body dignified, satisfied and total.
