An exerpt from a statement by the artist...

Exuberance of nature in all its phenomena; their flora and fauna. Solar light in fullness, shines, penetrates us, is reflected to our surroundings, raising colors to their maximal quality, until the blue ones are warm, so strong that they blind us, dazzle us. Birds, butterflies, trees and plants in flowering, fruits, dusks that envelop all the sky towards the four cardinal points, the dawns, colors ad infinitum, lights and shadows. In the middle of this wonder is orchestrated the clash of civilization-nature.

An event that meets up with me, photographic images or video, evidences that soon will form part of the exhibition like objects, assemblies or installacions.. And the graphical work encompasses aspects, from the analytical to the wanderings, reflections, and communion with the energies that all this entails; I try to capture those energies, the invisible and through my body to visualize them, to leave the track. The track, almost an obsession, the direct work, without sketches, intuitive, meditativo, a precipitation of the memory and all the thoughts, sensations and feelings. Confrontation with the public, departure point, so that other navigators, in their hearts, in all their bodies, become aware from the bond of civilization and nature, our interior with the exterior.

The image, the tracks, work where everything is made transparent. Textures, rising from the image, the material, always in dialogue. Simultaneous impression to color that reflects transparency in the transparency of the same color and simultaneously something material, organic through the reliefs, deep by the plate. The paintings cross the same way, recorded paintings, invested order, where the graphite gives the last outline.

"We really had a great time on the Art Tour. I was telling my mom that to just walk into a gallery and look at art seems so dry to me, but to see the artists and hear their stories and inspirations just gave the art such a personal feel to me!"

"Your Costa Rica Art Tour was truly a delight. You did a wonderful job in selecting a very talented group of artists with personalities to match. Both Marie and I hope to have the opportunity to share the experience again. Your idea of doing a photographic tour of San Jose sounds very appealing."

We hope to see you on the next Costa Rica Art Tour! You are sure to enjoy seeing the work of Costa Rican artists and artisans in their private studios and galleries! Private art tours take place in small groups of 10 persons maximum, so you will have the opportunity to speak directly with the artists. Painters, sculptors, ceramicists, stained glass artists, printmakers, all are included in the tours, as are traditional artisans such as mask-makers and blacksmiths.

All of our art tours are in private minibusses, and include lunch and translation into English. We can also arrange, at additional cost, transporation in private limousines.
